The European Disability Forum is recruiting a part time staff member- VIVID-T Digital Accessibility Trainer for a 1-year project

The European Disability Forum (EDF) is a non-governmental European umbrella organisation set up to represent organisations of persons with disabilities at EU level. Its membership includes 100 member organisations including European NGOs and national federations of organisations of persons with disabilities. EDF's mission is to promote the equal opportunities and human rights of persons with disabilities towards the European Union.

EDF is seeking an Digital Accessibility Trainer in the framework of its project VIVID-T funded by the European Union.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Increase the capacity of EU organisations to manage and oversee inclusive humanitarian actions aid projects,
  • Run inclusive volunteering programmes and develop a community of practice building capacity in inclusion, humanitarian action and volunteering,
  • Share this knowledge with the sector to increase awareness on the topic.

EDFs role in the VIVID-T project is to ensure that all outputs of the project are fully accessible, while building the capacity of partners in online digital accessibility. Tasks are described in detail in the attached job description.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A strong commitment to EDFs mission and values
  • Good understanding of the concepts of digital accessibility and usability
  • Good knowledge of the range of assistive technology available to persons with disabilities
  • Good technical knowledge of common digital accessibility issues (website, social media, collaboration tools such as Zoom, Teams, etc)
  • Excellent technical knowledge about how to produce accessible documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDF etc)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to deliver practical accessibility and usability information/training course to VIVID-T partners
  • The capacity to work in a rapidly changing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent writing skills – proven ability to write in a simple way about technical accessibility
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering inclusive training events and courses, including experience of doing this online
  • Demonstrable experience of building the capacity of civil society organisations, ideally with a focus on digital accessibility
  • Ability to work independently
  • A high level of organisation, efficiency and an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills in English; other languages, including Sign languages are an advantage.
  • At least two years’ experience of working in the digital accessibility field

Desirable

  • Certified accessibility professional
  • Knowledge in project reporting
  • General interest in international cooperation
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG, EN 301 549 )

Gross starting salary:

1400 euros gross month plus benefits (Luncheon vouchers, Transport costs, Pension Scheme. This is a part-time position – 50%, with flexibility in the working hours)

Position location:

EDF secretariat is based in Brussels, but the post holder can be based in another European country.
